Spotlight: Niagara County Entertainment

This week, we will be spotlighting one of GatherBoard’s newest calendars, NiagaraCountyEntertainment.com, and it’s site manager, Mike Weber.

Mike Weber is an artist. He thinks big, then brings his big projects to life with all the tiny details. When it comes to art, Mike likes to paint murals and other “unusual projects, focusing on things people don’t know they need.” When I spoke with him, he was looking forward to participating in a local chalk festival.

Many of his projects are meant to be shared, to be interacted with, to create connection. One obvious example of this is his “World’s Largest Dot to Dot Puzzle.”

Before going to college for graphic design, Mike was involved in the local music scene as a stage manager. As a technical illustrator for seven years, Mike found himself spending more time drawing detailed pictures of auto parts, and less time involved in the local music scene. He had lost touch with his musician friends, and wanted to know what was going on. This led him to also want to promote community activities to inform both locals and tourists about Niagara County events and activities.

An introvert, Mike admittedly doesn’t get out much, and spends much of his time working on his website, or other special projects. For example, he likes to edit video and has written a movie script. Mike would like nothing more than to be able to focus on local charities and art projects. He also hopes to use the revenue generated from his event calendar to create and host his own events.

Mike has a master plan. He wants to promote Niagara County, NY, for it’s local population of approximately 215,000, as well as the 14 to 16 million visitors who go there annually. After working on his vision for some time, Mike found GatherBoard. He found the event calendar easy to use, and it solved some of his immediate issues, but he wants to do even more. And I have no doubt that he will. Mike is a natural community connector, who dreams big and follows through.

NiagaraCountyEntertainment.com went live on July 2nd, 2018.
